My name is Zvjezdana Batković, I work as a Regional Program Advisor for Care International. It’s an international humanitarian and development organization in this area. I came to biotherapy 2 years ago, with a diagnosis of systemic lupus and psoriasis.
After a period of about 17 years of treatment with corticosteroids, the condition was fairly stable. However, we decided to discontinue the therapy with the indication that the condition could very quickly return such as it was, or worse.
In my case of lupus, everything started with high temperatures
and joint pains, arm, and leg joints swelling,
and increasingly stronger weakness in leg and arm muscles. I could not blow-dry my hair; I couldn’t go down or up to the stairs by myself. I walked without taking my feet off the ground since any other movement would mean a huge effort and pain.
As the disease progressed, it wasn’t immediately possible to determine what is
my medical condition. There were other side effects. I had trouble swallowing, I had problems with defecation, and my period stopped for almost 8 months. I realized that each new symptom causes another, thus weakening the organism. My muscles have atrophied and psychologically. I felt very weak, mentally burdened, fearful, uncertain.
During this period my psoriasis worsened. This means that almost 70%
of my body was covered with these psoriatic changes,
red patches. My skin was drying out, peeling off, and for months I’ve had no sleep. So it was a complete collapse.
I came very willingly and open to experience biotherapy, and the experience
was great indeed. My first impressions were very good. First of all, I liked the immediacy of the therapist and the way the treatment is carried out, treating the individual in front of the group of people. In that way there is no doubt, no scam, everything is very clear. A brief theoretic introduction
is given at the beginning so that everyone is clear about the way the therapy is done and what can be expected as a reaction.
After the first cycle of biotherapy, I had quite a fierce reaction of body cleanse,
through my skin. Even today, I have small scars on my shins, but I don’t mind. These were boils which drained for about 7-10 days. I had a feeling of fever,
slightly raised body temperature, but the therapist said that we could expect that. I came to ask for advice and simply received encouragement that it’s ok and that it would pass, which it did. After the second cycle, the reaction was very similar but much milder. After the remaining therapies, other than this sleepiness, fatigue and the feeling of relaxation, I had absolutely no symptoms. Reactions during therapy.
During the therapy, I felt the flow of energy even more and more – some tingling, cooling, warm currents like having a fan behind your back. Moving back and forth, no one is touching you, no one is forcing you, but I just feel that there is a very, very powerful force and that it works, and that I react to it.
It’s been three years now that I haven’t been treated with corticosteroids,
and during the last two years, I’ve been coming regularly to biotherapy sessions. The medical results are all right and, of course, I regularly continue to see my doctor for checkups, and I take care of all that is required, but I don’t have any symptoms in terms of joint swelling or weakness in arms and leg muscles since I’ve started coming here.
